  • Polymer Extruded Products, Inc. was established in 1989 by the senior management team of the plastic film division of American Buildings Company. Under the leadership of Dr. Steven L.Kozak, Chairman and CEO, PEP was created to fulfill the VISION of its founders: to be a company dedicated to the manufacture of plastic film and sheet products employing unique and proprietary polymer systems and manufacturing processes.

The company was acquired in 2003 by Spartech Corporation and now operates as Spartech PEP. Its expertise is focused upon two specific processes: Cast Film & Blown Film.

In the EXTRUSION CAST FILM process, films as thin as 0.003" and 60" wide are produced on single screw extrusion lines. Three-roll calendarizing is optional with most films being cast onto mirror finish chrome rolls. Specialized embossing rolls are used, in some instances to produce precisely matted surfaces for use in premium printing applications such as acetate playing cards. PEP is the worldwide leader in the production of cellulose acetate, cellulose butyrate, cellulose propionate and ethyl cellulose film and sheet. Korad? acrylic films are produced using the cast process when the application requires superior clarity and low shrinkage.

The EXTRUSION BLOWN FILM process has been extended through PEP innovation to allow the world's only production of extremely thin yet wide width Korad? acrylic films. Films as thin as 0.0015" and ten feet wide are produced on a commercial scale. The ability to produce such exceptionally wide film has allowed PEP to participate in markets such as thermoplastic boat hulls (replacing FRP construction), bathtubs, one piece shower surrounds, farm tractor canopies and exterior building panels. PEP has exclusive worldwide rights to the Korad? polymers used to produce Korad? films.

PEP has developed and incorporated a unique material drying system into its operations by which hygroscopic polymers, normally considered non-processable via a blown film technique, can be fabricated into high quality films.
